Baseball game

We have had a lot of fun this summer. It has especially made an impression on Maddie. She often asks something like this: "After dinner, can we go to the fair, and go ride a boat, and go to a baseball game and watch fireworks and get some ice cream?" She's a little ambitious with her hour of time. But I guess it shows that it means a lot to her that we have made these special memories. She has talked about baseball games a lot. If she sees a sport on tv, she gets excited it's a baseball game. She LOVED fireworks this summer. So when we were thinking about something fun to do labor day weekend, we thought about going to a baseball game. The same weekend they had a special Mormon's night to see the Baltimore Orioles. We thought about going but we didn't buy tickets in time, and I wasn't too anxious to go anyway - lots of traffic and since it's a major league game, it will be televised which makes an already long game even longer with commercial breaks. Also, we'd probably be way too far from the field. I actually prefer my minor league baseball games, so we headed to the Bowie Baysox stadium instead. We were fortunate that their last weekend of games for the season happened to be home. Yea!

So Saturday night, we headed to the stadium. They were having trick or treating so the kids wore costumes. (Mommy fail - the trick or treating was BEFORE the game started and we didn't get there in time. It didn't say that anywhere on their website though. Claire was very disappointed. :( )
So sweet. <3 td="">

The older girls were excited to take their picture with a clown. Amelia, on the other hand, was freaked out. She had wide eyes, held tightly onto my shirt/ arm, and actually shook a little with fear when he came close to say hello. She watched him like a hawk from a distance. It was a very interesting reaction.
Watching the game with their new made friend.
One of my favorite things about the baseball game is the little things the kids pick up. For instance, Sol do mi sol mi sol!! CHARGE! They could be half asleep, but when they hear that major arpeggio, they ALWAYS yell charge. I love it. Or, "Everybody clap your hands!" And of course, they start clapping along. Of course, there's the musicless beat of "We Will Rock You" by Queen that they know and love. (My kids LOVE Queen. "We Will Rock You", "I Want to Ride My Bicycle", and more. Maddie especially often randomly sings "We Will Rock You." It's so cute.) It's things like this that make going to a baseball game so fun! (We never watch it on tv. It's quite boring to us.) And I love that my little girls have fun with these little traditions too. :)

They were also having fireworks after the game. (We almost missed this too. They went into THREE extra innings and we were about to give up because it was getting crazy late.) We had a great time at the game though, and were grateful we were still able to watch the fireworks.
Maddie was a little scared by the noise, but loved watching the fireworks from daddy's lap. So sweet!
The kids made some friends that they played with as the game dragged on. They were going down to run the bases after the game as they always allow the kids to do. Claire really wanted to go down to the field like the kids that got to do the special games in between innings. So despite the late hour, we let the kids run the bases which they loved.

That was one sleepy baby as it was almost 11PM! (That's also one very tan Claire.)
