We had a lot fun for Halloween this year, despite being in Korea. On post, a week before Halloween, they had a trunk or treat. Cay was here during that time, so we were excited to go trick or treating with her (especially since Halloween is her favorite holiday.) She also brought Claire's kitty costume just in time. :)
| Claire all ready to go trick or treating in her kitty costume (though before she left, she decided to have her kitty nose and whiskers drawn on instead.) She also has her kitty treat bag Aunt Cay bought. |
Cay trimmed Claire's hair before we left. This was actually Claire's FIRST haircut and she needed it. It looks so much better now, and she looks so much older! I also don't mind keeping her hair down anymore. Silly me forgot to take pictures of her hair cut or the before and after.
Anyway, there were tons of cars at the trunk or treat, and the cars were really decked out. (Maybe a hefty reward for the best one was an incentive.)
| The cars were impressively decorated. |
| Claire took a little break to play with the parachute. |
| Not your average humvee. |
| Holy balloons! They really had that playground decked out. No helium shortage here! |
| Claire is thinking, "I guess I'll give you a high five, but I'm so excited to see a puppy. I really want to give you a hug." |
| The puppy was taken aback when Claire gave him a big hug. She's so sweet. |
| Her true kitty coming out. There was a kid in a skeleton costume and she was meowing at him. It was so funny. |
| More creatures to hug. |
| Asian princesses at the playground. |
| Maddie was pretty tired, but she had a good time with her Aunt Cay. She perked up soon after this picture as Aunt Cay shared a little candy. |
| The pretty sun set while we were there. |
| I guess she had fun because she fell asleep on the way home. She was worn out |
The following week, we celebrated Halloween some more. Claire celebrated at preschool, we carved a pumpkin, went trick or treating Halloween night on post at the CAC, played at the Halloween party there, and even trick or treated outside around our apartment complex since there are so many Americans here.
| Claire loved drawing all over the pumpkin with a pen. |
| Not our best jack-o-lantern as we didn't have our pumpkin carver here, but he was still cute. |
| Claire was excited. :) |
| Maddie of course was only an observer in the pumpkin carving festivities. |
Chris's mom sent cute Hello Kitty matching Halloween shirts for the girls. They were so cute in their matching outfits, but it was impossible to get Maddie to hold still. Claire tried holding on to her, but that just made her more mad. These are the best two shots I got. Sad, I know.
| Claire is watching tv and "smiling" on command while Maddie cries. Haha. |
On Halloween, There was supposed to be trick or treating at the Gateway Club, but it turned out that only ONE person was there. It was kind of funny. We went with friends though, and had a good time before we headed over to the CAC.
| Best friends. Claire refused to smile, so they tickled her. It worked! :) |
| That bucket was completely full by the end of the night (including her trunk or treat candy too.) |
| This giraffe was pretty cute riding around in the wagon. She LOVES wagon rides. |
| My little giraffe and kitty. So darn cute. |
At the community activity center (CAC) they had a huge Halloween party with trick or treating, free hot dogs and hamburgers, games, dancing, a costume contest, a mini haunted house, crafts, face painting, etc. We went with friends and had a wonderful time.
| A nice sanitary way to bob for apples. I would have preferred that as a kid. |
| Claire with her pumpkin she wanted on her face. She LOVES getting her face painted. |
| Right before the post musical chairs you're out melt down. Most of the kids cried when they were out. Claire hadn't played this game before, and she wasn't a fan. |
After we got home from the Halloween party, we took Claire around our neighborhood for trick or treating. Though it still wasn't the same as in America, it was nice to be out in the crisp fall air, in the dark, trick or treating. Claire is already talking about what she wants to be for Halloween next year. The strongest contenders are a doctor and a kitty again. (She LOVES playing doctor with her dolls, pals, and friends.)
