Florida trip - Part 6 - the trip home

Tuesday morning, we left for home. We drove back to Savannah and stayed less than half a mile from the hotel we stayed at on the way down. We enjoyed some swimming time, and the next morning headed for Richmond, VA. Chris used to live there, so we enjoyed some time relaxing in the evening, and then went to Maymont Park on Thursday morning. Maymont Park is a HUGE, gorgeous park with historical buildings, gardens, tons of flowers and trees, water, fountains, open grass, and even a little zoo, in the heart of Richmond, and the last time we had been there was almost 9 years ago when Chris proposed to me.

Nine years ago, Chris and I drove down to Richmond so Chris could play with a brass quintet for his friend's wedding. After a quick bite to eat at Wendy's after the wedding, he took me to Maymont Park. We enjoyed a peaceful walk around until we found a little gazebo where he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I of course said "YES!"

Upon our return, my quest was to find that little gazebo. The park is huge, but I had a vague recollection of where it was. I remembered it was small, made of stone and iron, and sort of off the beaten path near a huge building or walkway with lots of flowers. We gratefully were able to stumble upon this gazebo so that we could take pictures for posterity. (I didn't bring a camera the day he proposed.)

A lot can happen in 9 years, like three adorable children!
The kids loved the freedom and space to run around, Chris enjoyed taking pictures, and we all enjoyed the beautiful spring weather and flowers!

They were catching the blossoms that were blowing in the air. If they couldn't catch them in the air, they would pick them up off the ground. Under some trees, when the wind picked up, it was like it was raining blossoms!
There was a building with historical carriages and sleighs. It was pretty cool!
It was a memorable day and so fun to go down memory lane with my sweet husband and family!
