4th of July

This year we had a simple 4th of July at home. We had a bbq and simple, yummy food. That night, we went on a little family walk/ bike ride.

When we got home, it was about time to head to the fireworks. We thought about going somewhere cool for fireworks like DC, Annapolis, or Baltimore, but with small children, we weren't even sure they would like fireworks (they are kind of noisy) and we really didn't want to deal with the traffic at that time of night. So we decided to stay local. People said that lots of people do fireworks over the water, so we went to a nearby bridge and watched an informal fireworks show in surround sound. It was a beautiful scene with fireworks going off all around us, but far enough away they weren't very loud. We stayed as long as we wanted, then headed back home. No traffic. Win! While it's just a crappy cell phone picture, this is the scene we enjoyed. :) It was a first for both Maddie and Amelia with fireworks. Maddie was especially enamored by them, and frequently asks to see more fireworks which we have been able to accommodate a few times.
