The last weekend in July, we packed in the fun. On Friday night, we took the kids to the movies to see Planes: Fire and Rescue. The kids loved it and we had a great time! It's fun that Maddie is getting better at sitting still. (We had some practice going to see the Lego Movie and Mr. Peabody and Sherman at the summer dollar movies too. :))
At the beginning of the summer, we made a bucket list of summer fun things we wanted to do. Going to a local baseball game was on that list, and since there was a home game Saturday night, we went! (I realize we could go to an Orioles or Nationals game but I actually prefer farm teams - no commercial time outs, smaller crowds, and cheaper...everything.) The girls had never been to a baseball game before, so they were really excited (though clueless as to what they were getting into.) We had a wonderful time though, and they've been asking to go back. Recently, Maddie saw a baseball game on tv, and got really excited to see baseball.
After the game, there was a fireworks show. Maddie had been asking for fireworks ever since the 4th of July, so it was fun to see an official fireworks display. (We also got some fireworks on our way up to NY and lit some in my parents' back yard while we were visiting.) They were closer and louder than they were on the 4th, but all the kids loved them!
