Claire's dance recital

In mid June, Claire had her first dance recital! We practiced at home nearly every day the couple of weeks leading up to it, and it paid off. She was one of the only, if not the only girl in her class who actually knew the dance for the recital. Yea! (After the recital, she was teaching the moves to Maddie. It was precious.)

On Thursday, she had her dress rehearsal and then Saturday was the big day! Chris's parents came down for the recital which added to the excitement. Both girls loved the recital. (Maddie still occasionally talks about the routine with the green dresses and the cool music.) The recital was long, like 2.5 hours long, but amazingly enough, Maddie was entertained and really enjoyed it (for the most part.) We were so proud of Claire and how well she performed. It's intimidating going on stage with bright lights with an auditorium full of people watching you, but she did great! We weren't allowed to record the performance, but I did get a video of the dress rehearsal. Their teachers were doing the dance in front of them to help them remember which wasn't the case for the performance.
(Sorry the resolution isn't great. I had to get the file small enough to upload.)

While she learns ballet, tap, and jazz in her class, they pick one style for the dance recital, and this year it was tap. She loves to dress up in her dance costume for fun now (might as well get our $65 worth!)
She LOVED getting to wear make-up.

That weekend was also father's day weekend. We treated Chris with a yummy meal and a cherry pie. We also got him a croquet set to enjoy as a family together.
